If you’ve been invited to attend a conference or event at the Prague Congress Centre (or PCC) there are a few things you’ll want to know about the Congress Centre and surrounding area whilst planning your trip.

You’ve been on their website and browsed through the gallery of this stunning venue, which offers spectacular views of Prague and everything you could possibly need during your time there.  But what else is important, what can you expect to see in the area, where can you find affordable accommodation close to the Prague Congress Centre, and is it even open at the moment?

We’ve compiled a list of the top things you need to know while planning your trip to the Prague Congress Centre.

Prague Congress Centre Coronavirus Update March 2020

The PCC has announced on its website that many events have been canceled or postponed until further notice.

Please take note that at present the Don Quixote ballet and Whitney Houston hologram show have both been canceled until further notice as well as the Gregorian concerts. We hope, together with the rest of the world, that the coronavirus will soon be under control.

If you’re already in the area and looking for some open-air activities to fill your time, keep reading.

Things to do and places to visit near the Prague Congress Centre

●      Charles Bridge

The view of this stunning Bridge is best enjoyed by boat. Booking a seat on a steamboat is easy and it will be one of the highlights of your trip to Prague. If you need any help with booking, you can just ask at the front desk of your accommodation.

●      Vysehrad Castle

Vysehrad is the jewel of Prague. This heritage site is in fact older than the city of Prague and a trip the Vysehrad Castle is a must. If you want to find out more, we recently wrote an article on this amazing place.

●      Havlíček Gardens (Havlíčkovy sady)

This hidden gem has been said to be one of the most beautiful parks in Prague. If you’re lucky enough to be in this area, it is a wonderful day out. The garden holds many beautiful fountains, hillside vineyards, and the strange stone building at the top of the hill – the Grotta.

●      Charles Square & New Town Tower

People in Prague speak Czech… So don’t be surprised if you can’t easily find these places on Google Maps. You should be looking for Karlovo náměstí (Charles Square) and Novoměstská radnice (New Town Hall). This combo is a must-see close to the Congress Centre in Prague.

Except for the stunning square, surrounded by the most beautiful architecture and a view of New Town Tower, the historical significance is what’s fascinating.

This site is basically where the term “defenestration” was coined. The term means to kill someone by throwing them out of a window. Seems the method wasn’t all that popular ‘till the Czechs got hold of it (medieval Europe, gotta love it).

There is much more to see and do, be sure to ask at reception for all the tours and activities available.
